Daiki Kougyou (Sculptor: Studio Saru Bunshitsu)

OrchidSeed (Sculptors: Ishiyama Satoshi/Ranmaru + Cooperation from Hiromen)

Clips

essence

Long Long

M Field

Snow Cat

Sakura Zensen (Only for display. Better luck next time I guess.)

Gareki no 20 Dai

Epoxy Parfait

That is all!

Final thoughts: None of these are must-buys for me but they are nicer than the rest. There were a few monster kits that I also enjoyed looking at, but they would stick out like a sore thumb if I included them. Overall, this Wonder Festival was not too bad. I give it a "B-".

1/4 KOS-MOS Version 4 by Chorosuke - coming soon to all you lucky bastards living in Japan

Who can deny what Ayanami Rei has done for the otaku scene when she first graced our TVs/computer monitors back in October of 1995? Although probably not the first of her kind, her stoic beauty won the hearts of many fans and spawned even more derivatives (Nagato Yuki from Suzumiya Haruhi, Vanilla from Galaxy Angels and Hoshino Ruri from Martian Successor Nadesico just to name a few).

I was no exception.

I had a huge thing for Rei back in grade 9 (which was when I first got into anime). The problem with liking anime characters is that they don't exactly age with you. Rei's what, like 14? Having a crush on her when you're 13-15 is bad enough, but 20+? Not cool. Luckily it was mainly her personality that struck a chord with me, so her numerous successors took over her role quite nicely and I got over my Rei obsession after a few more years (no thanks to Mogudan that it went on for that long in the first place).

Of all the Rei-clones that came and went, Aegis from Persona 3 and KOS-MOS from Xenosaga still remain my favorites to this day (though I guess they aren't exactly ancient). Which is why I knew I had to update when I found out about Chorosuke's upcoming sculpt of KOS-MOS (I knew it! I knew he would get around to her eventually!):

This 1/4 kit will retail for 50,400 yen(!) at Chara Hobby 2009 and Volks Hobby Round 2.

Finally, something to rekindle my passion. :o)
